Write down whatever negative thought that comes in your mind. With every negative thought think about why it is negative and flip it. It also helps you see the good things that do exist in your world. Recording the positive aspects of your life, such as your health or loved ones, reminds you that you are lucky and that you have things to be grateful and happy for.
Tackle dysfunctional thinking
Ask yourself logical questions and look for logical answers. This also includes replacing negative thoughts with positive ones. The reality is that everyone has strengths and weaknesses. Having a solid self-esteem means accepting and appreciating all your sides.
Soothe yourself
Feed your mind, body and soul in ways that make you feel special. These ways don't need to be grand and overwhelming. For instance, you might carve out time in your day for quiet and stillness. You might enjoy simple comforts such as a hot cup of coffee, a beautiful song or a colourful sunset.
Discover your passion
Make a list of things you used to love to do and stopped doing along with things you always wanted to do but haven't done yet. Take that list and try to make time to revisit those things or try new ones out. You may find that your happiness and self-confidence will slowly start to shine again.
Keep on trying
When you have low self-esteem, it's common to think of yourself as a complete and utter failure. But failure is part of success. Failure doesn't characterize you as a person or determine your self-worth. Successful people expect and experience failure, the only difference is that they see it as a learning experience instead. Don't try to become the best, just try to be better.
High self-esteem also makes you somewhat "immune" to psychological distress and therefore, we can't have too much of it. It also motivates you to overcome anxiety. Some people confuse self-esteem with arrogance. Arrogance comes from a large ego. Self-esteem keeps you in touch with reality.
